The Alumni of the Division de Salud of the Universidad del Valle ADSUV was founded in 1989 with the purpose of helping the Division de Salud of the Universidad del Valle.

ADSUV’s priority has been to support the Medical Library by donating equipment and updating subscriptions to the most important medical journals and books. In doing so, ADSUV hopes to improve the educational system of the Medical School.

ADSUV has established a broad membership that includes all alumni of the Division de Salud, former faculty members and post-graduate students currently living outside Colombia. A modest membership feel is charged annually and tax-exempt contributions are solicited on an annual basis. External financial help has been obtained with grants from the Rockefeller Foundation, the American Association of Kidney Patients, and also Christian Relief Foundation. Fund-raising activities are help every other year in different geographical location.

ADSUV has tax-exempt status granted by the Internal Service. The EIN number is 58-1923675 which cn be used when making your contributions to ADSUV.

In the past, ADSUV has donated fax machines to facilitate communications with the Medical Library and the Dean’s Office. Microfiche reader printers and CD-ROM reading systems were purchases for the Medical Library. A six-year commitment to purchase 60 of the most read journals in microfiche was completed approximately six years ago. Innumerable medical supplies, medical equipment and hospital equipment have been shipped through Christian Relief as donated by multiple members of ADSUV.

The current commitment of ADSUV is to help finance the database called journal@ovid, full text. ADSUV will help impart with the yearly subscription and also finance five separate reading stations.

ADSUV has been distinguished by a special commemoration in 1991 entitled Universidad del Valle “Condecoracion” and the “Degree of Special Friend.” This was given in a special ceremony to Carlos Garcia, M.D., then president of ADSUV.
